Young Folk Therapy is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and empathetic child & adolescent counsellor to join our team on a part time basis. This role will be a combination of both school and clinic based clients between the ages of 7-14 years.

We are looking to expand our team and are looking for a:

Counsellor


You must have:

  • Recognised degree in counselling or psychology

  • At least 2-3 years experience

  • Training in a range of psychotherapy approaches including Play Therapy and/or DIR floortime

General Skills:

  • Provide consultations to parents/caregivers

  • Provide ongoing psychological and/or counselling intervention to children experiencing emotional or behavioural difficulties and their families. 

  • Experience running group programmes for both children and adults.

  • Contribute as a multi-disciplinary team member

  • Near native level of written and spoken English

  • Native/near native level of spoken Cantonese

FAQ’s

What is the caseload: Kids, kids and more kids. All ages but predominately kindergarten and primary school. We work with all types of kids with all types of strengths and challenges.

Where will I be working: This is a job for someone who wants to work in a beautiful clinic but also has a school based caseload. We work in both environments and are lucky enough to work in a range of International Schools including HK Island, Kowloon and the New Territories.

Are there any benefits for me: Besides working in a dynamic team with great families, we love training and making sure you are developing your professional skills is important to us. You will receive access to supervision, shadowing and case discussions. Additionally, we always try and support alternative professional development opportunities.

Do you have to work on a Saturday: Not if you don’t want too. There may be the odd day now and then, but we want this job to work for your and your lifestyle and family.

Mong Kok is a busy place, is it easy to get to your clinic? It really is quite simple, the MTR is a 5 minute walk and there are plenty of buses along Nathan Road. We are located on the quiet end of Mong Kok Road which is a bonus.

Do I need a work visa? Yes, this is a requirement for the job.

Do I need to speak Cantonese/Mandarin: No you don’t but it would be an advantage.
